A dorsal view of a perched male. According to Restall's Birds of Northern South America, the nominate violaceus is now called Amazonian Violaceous Trogon, with (at least) the (sub)species caligatus now called Northern Violaceous or Gartered Trogon. Elevation: 267 m. Date added to IBC: June 23, 2016.
