Single call note

Observasjonsdetaljer

Continuing first ABA Area record. Photos embedded and audio recorded. I arrived late in the heat of the day, and the bird was (expectedly) much more quiet than others have described from morning hours. In the first hour, I heard the bird call only three times. Eventually I found it visually, at the upper part of the camp near its nest and around the upper fire ring, but it remained mostly silent. In about 15 minutes of recording audio, it called once. It spent long periods sitting in the lower canopy or mid-story, preening or waiting for prey to pass by. It seemed to only call when returning from a sally for prey. I watched it for at least 30 minutes and never saw it gather any nesting material or visit the nest. Lifer for me, #1151.
