NOTES: This bird was initially unseen but about 75-100 meters away, later as close as 40 meters away, and 5-8 meters up in the middle to upper levels in 5-10 meter-tall Cecropia and other trees; initial playback had little effect, but after it got light, playback of the last cut resulted in the bird calling and a relatively aggressive approach, during which I saw the bird relatively well as it zipped back-and-forth and described it on tape; this was recorded in scrubby farmland with manioc fields bordered by Cecropia trees and much scrubby growth about 18 kilometers from town where we got the car stuck briefly at dawn; though I could not be sure, the bird singing here may be the same one that was calling in the previous cut (#2000-49-02); high thin clouds overhead, calm, 76¡F. Response to playback: Approach. Response to playback: Different song. Other Behaviors: Advertise. Habitat: Rural, Field, Second-growth, Scrub.
