NOTES: Spawning; hydrophone placed approximately 6" beneath spawning pans. Note included in reel box: "Goldfish (Carassius auritus): Shortly before 4:30AM, 3June, goldfish became active. One or two fish, presumably male, began to chase one large fish (female) around the periphery of the pool. Then, two or three individuals would enter the spawning pans and splash the water surface noisily as they rapidly swam back and forth across the plants suspended between the sides of the pan. Spawning was still going on at 7:40AM. Water temp = 26C; weather was cloudy (slightly). The pools were approx. 50' wide, 100' long; 4' deep. The fish were all over 5" in length and black "telescope" eyes, fantail goldfish variety." TEMPWATER: 26.
