Observasjonsdetaljer
Initially seen in flight, close to the shore. Observed as a dingy grayish/brown seabird with conspicuous white patches in the primaries. The bird was bigger and drabber that the nearby Laughing Gulls and had a bulkier, heavy set chest. When I observed the bird through binoculars I immediately noticed the dark and white barring on the chest, and I thought 'possible jaeger'. The underside of the wings (coverts and secondaries) appeared distinctly checkered. When the the bird banked, it spread it's dark brownish tail with two extending pointed black central tail feathers which confirm Parasitic Jaeger. The bird landed and rested in several locations on the fairly calm water in the area between Birds Isle and the Port of Belize, and flew for short intervals between it's rests. I called Francis Canto who arrived and took photos. The bird was observed during short flights and rests for about 40 minutes and remained at the location when I left.
