Waited in the bird blind scanning every bird, and eventually started seeing Red-winged Blackbirds flying through the tall reeds along the pond. I figured the Yellow-headed Blackbirds couldn’t be far behind. Scanning a power line pole, I first thought I was seeing Starlings at a distance, but once I zoomed in with my lens, the bright yellow head and chest contrasting with the black body were clear. Lifer! As we were leaving, many more flocks were flying in, counted by tens.
