Continuing just east of boardwalk spur: (38.9118452, -76.9463884). When I arrived the bittern was sitting perfectly still right along the edge of the channel, in the open. Over a little more than five minutes it slowly extended its neck, turned and stalked up the channel, then up into the vegetation, and disappeared from view. Phone pics through bins
