What I think may be a molting male was seen with a pair of Mallards in open water where a stormwater outlet drains into Nepean Creek at 45.345658 N 75.718043 W. The bird was swimming, feeding and preening in this small patch of open water. This duck was slightly smaller than the nearby Mallards with a large spatulate shaped bill and some evidence of chestnut on the flank. A large green patch on the speculum was evident especially the Shoveler was preening.
