2nd US record found earlier today. Seen perched on US side of the island downriver from Salineño boat ramp. Medium+ dark slender hawk with a long B&W banded tail. Wings were broad and slightly paddle shaped with narrow white crescents. Long orange legs. Long black tail with wide white bands visible from a distance. White undertail coverts. Photo digiscoped through another birder’s scope shortly after I arrived. it would be the best view had over the next 3 hours. Ran into Dave Irons and Shawneen again. Got decent looks of the bird through the scope of another birder. I then bushwacked upriver to try and get my own pics of the bird but it had moved on by the time I arrived. It was seen sporadically for at least the next 3 days.
