Observed a banded male [Left top to bottom: silver/metal (S), red (R); right top to bottom: purple (L), green (G)]. Submitted to USGS and obtained the following information about him from Chelsea Bullock at Cape Fear Bird Observatory (January 2024): "Yes, this bunting is “SRLE”, originally banded on 5/21/2022 at the Carolina Beach State Park as an after second year male (meaning he hatched in at least the summer of 2020 or earlier). His band number is 2881-18957 and I double checked to make sure he is indeed in the BBL database. I recaptured him at the same location on 8/6/2022 and 5/6/2023, but havent seen him since, so your report is the most recent sighting that I'm aware of!"
