Heard an unfamiliar bird through the open window while working. The bird was initially in my front yard when it first sang, and was further west when it sang the second time. It probably moved through my neighbor's yard and kept going. It issued 2 sessions of songs separated by several minutes. The first session contained 4 songs while the second session contained 3 songs. The first song in both sessions looks strongly like the first Canada Warbler call in Merlin. The second song looks strongly like the second Canada Warbler song in Merlin. The other songs don't match anything I could easily find. Given that several Black and White Warblers and a White-eyed Vireo showed up in the yard today, I suspect this was a Canada Warbler despite how early it is. Both Merlin and BirdNet (probability 100%) ID it as a Canada Warbler. The Warbler Guide says the Canada Warbler often sings multiple song variations in one session. Type A1 is described as fast and hard to remember (non-melodic) beginning with 2 chips and ending in a downslur. This seems to match well with the first song in each session. I will have to have some others weigh in on this call before I change it to Canada Warbler. Update: I've had a couple of other birders weigh in on this and, despite it being early, they're in agreement with Canada Warbler for this bird. I suspect this individual is going to be unchasable as there's nothing particularly unique about my yard that would keep it here. I searched for it this afternoon after work and came up empty. Hope shows up again so I can get a picture.
