After reviewing the photos and getting input from others, I believe this is a juvenile Long-tailed Jaeger. Small bill, slender structure, round head, blunt inner rectrices, and little white in the primaries. Additionally, in the field the bird appeared about the size of a laughing gull as it made its way down the beach. I came across this guy almost all the way up at the jetty. As I was headed north, the jaeger passed me headed south. I turned to catch up with it and took a few poor photos and then lost it. I am unsure if it continued south down the beach or if it veered off out to sea. This would represent a first for Willacy County.
