First observed at 11:30 AM in the patch of trees just north of Pavilion #8. Yellowish olive upper parts from crown through the mantle. Throat shows some yellow tones, but is lighter than the cheek. Eye ring is tear drop shaped. White wing bars on dark wing. Primary projection is between 1/2 and 2/3 of the longest tertial. Bill has a completely orange lower mandible. Silent, tried several playbacks of ACFL YBFL PSFL COFL. The one time it flew out of the vegetation and toward us was immediately after playing a COFL call. During our 1 hour long observation, the bird was actively foraging and sallying. It was tail pumping/flicking frequently. We saw it wing flick once. Photos to be added. *Update 4/27/2023* -- Unknowingly recorded female position note While Marisa and I left the encounter thinking we did not have recordings of vocalizations, upon our return from traveling we reviewed all of our audio files and it turns out we recorded the female position note without realizing it. The three notes we recorded occurred just after the flycatcher was chased by a Northern Cardinal. I have attached the audio recording, trimmed and normalized in Audacity per eBird guidlines. What you hear in the recording is me proclaiming that we thought we heard a sound that we thought was the flycatcher. Being unfamiliar with WEFLs, we concluded they came from the NOCA and disregarded them shortly after this clip. We learned our lesson on this one, but we are glad to have reached an ID, even if it's only to the WEFL complex.
