Large adult woodpecker with obvious large, oval white patch on back, wing tips, and rump; solid red head; long, thick gray bill; solid white belly. Displayed typical woodpecker flight through trees and posture when landing on the side of and moving up around a snag. We (along with 3 other birders who joined us) observed it in the Beech/Oak/Pitch Pine forest just northeast of the northeast side of parking lot loop for about 10 minutes.
