Very rare for county. Near north boat launch. Larger, fully hooded gull with dark gray back, red bill, dark pink legs, dark primaries above and below with dark tips, and prominent white eye arcs. Side by side with a Bonaparte’s for size and mantle hue comparison. A few freehand digiscoped iPhone pics attached. New personal county bird. Found at 12:05, flew out to the north at 12:25. Waited twenty minutes to see if it would circle back but no luck. With weather conditions, very possible it will drop back in. Update: first eBird record for Lehigh, and I haven’t collected any previous records in my notes for the county. Seems odd that this would be a new county bird but I’ll ask around. Update 2: Mark Boyd reported one 10/30/2012 at Schantz Road in Fogelsville. Also trying to track down an historic record from LVIA, probably in the 1990s. Seems this may be the third county record...
