Continuing Gray Catbird at Anisq'Oyo' Pak in Isla Vista, Santa Barbara County, CA
観察結果の詳細
Continuing. I very quickly found this bird in the channel next to the footbridge where it was moving around in the bulrushes, down to the bottom of the channel, and eventually, it flew up to the rail fence surrounding the grassy area above. It was really just dumb luck that I found it so easy and in plain view. It was similar in size to a Mockingbird but with a shorter tail. It was entirely dark gray in color but it had a contrasting black cap, a slightly curved black bill, and the tail was a darker gray. It had a beady black eye. The under tail coverts were chestnut color. Legs and feet were blackish. I found it to be somewhat slow moving and deliberate in its actions except when it would fly off which was rather quick. I watched it forage in the bed of the channel and eat something at one point. I did not hear it vocalize, although others have. Photos
