Bird appears to be Tamaulipas crow. Blue ish cast, smallish for (stocky GT grackle ). Thin bill. Call low grunt not like fish crow. Flying gradually around artificial pond with aerator. Bird disappeared quickly. I headed to the pass and relocated the bird atop a electrical pole immediately east of the toll booth. Watched the crow fly southwest to the pass until I could see it no more.
