Note apparent dusky primary tips. I am confident these are not shadows or tricks of the bright sunshine.

Continuing from yesterday, September 28, where it was reported on Central Mass Birders Facebook Page. A small to mid-sized white egret on the west side of the pond at about 11:00 AM. Most of the time, the bird was out of what little water remains on the west side. My approach to the bird was screened by shrubs so I was able to get fairly close, estimate about fifty feet, and observe the bird in a leisurely manner for about fifteen minutes. The bird was larger than a Green Heron and considerably smaller than a Great Blue Heron. The bird’s plumage was all white except for dusky primary tips. Its legs and feet were greenish with no sign of black. The outer portion of the bill is dark, with no further extension of dark towards the base of the culmen. My impression in the field is that the bird has a “bug-eyed” look.
