Although very similar to the Red-shouldered Hawk, I note these differences. It appeared slightly smaller. It has a barrel chest. It was not shy. I walked 180° in front of it, withing ten feet. It did not fly away. I was in its vicinity for more than thirty minutes. I did not hear any call.
