Several males and several females seen. I am searching for Purple-throated among them, so these photos are chosen to show the "diagnostic" tail feather color difference between the females of these two species. I do not believe they are distinguishable in the field based on the color of the tail feathers. There is overlap, lighting and shadow effects, and perhaps individual variation which makes the positive identification to species level where both occur, impossible, in my opinion.
