観察結果の詳細
10 seen at once at the Sycamore Creek and Verde River junction, different calls and much smaller size and smaller bill than Common Raven. Working our way north much further in the day we found a mixed crow and raven flock. Crows were the dominant species in the flock, and their much smaller size was obvious when side-by-side with Common Raven (plus squared off tail shape versus the wedge shaped tail of Common Raven) They sat in a big cottonwood at one point that still had most of its leaves. At one point most of the birds took flight, with the smaller American Crows being obvious in size with the fewer Common Ravens. With the birds that took flight, they were estimated by 10s as they circled the tree for about 10 seconds before they went back in. Seemed like not all the birds took flight either, but there were at least 60 for sure.
