観察結果の詳細

Saw a male first flying over the wet meadow and then a female joined it briefly in flight with some light tussling. She then stared me down and flew towards me, gliding over my head while loudly vocalizing. She dive-bombed me a half dozen times or so and landed in a nearby shrub, giving alarm calls, squeals, and chatter. Then she came for me again! WOW! I’ve never experienced any of that before. I used my camera with long lens extended to protect my head, though she didn’t ever touch me. Obviously there was a nest nearby. Didn’t realize they nest on the ground in fields and marshes. Saw the female land in the meadow which was possibly her nest. Photo shows her brood patch.
