Scouting for Carpinteria CBC. Bird did not vocalize. Top of first hill (coming from East Valley Lane entrance) looking north at bare snag. Typical flycatcher movement and posture perching on bare branch. Orange lower mandible. At one point, the Greater Pewee and a Black Phoebe almost collided as they went after the same flying insect. Likely the same bird returning for at least its third winter at this location. Please note that parking is not allowed on East Valley Lane.
