Signing as soon as I got out of the car from the NE side of the pond and then came closer to the big Willow. It continued signing sporadically (once every 5 minutes or so) for about 20 minutes before going quiet. Though I may have heard a few calls in the NE pond area again before I left. I think I managed one quiet recording of the rising three toned slurred song (usually shown as “peeeaaaweeee”) but it was quite windy. Bird was giving that call repeatedly followed by the falling peeeeoooo call. The bird eventually came in close and gave one more phrase and a brief view before being chased off by a WEWP and flying back to the other side of the pond. Visually looked much like a WEWP but with an obvious split vested look on the breast. Mandible was about 80-90% orange with a dusky tip. Wing bars were bold and white with little contrast between the two bars. Posture was the classic EAWP shape though personally I find this field mark to be a bit dubious. I’d be hard pressed to have IDd this bird visually.
