I usually don't try to identify the Song Sparrow down to subspecies due to it being one of the most variable birds in the United States. My first attempt is that this Song Sparrow belongs to the heermanni ssp. The bird has very dark streaking on the sides and reddish median coverts on the wings. If only I knew what all the other subspecies looked like.
