Giant flock continues in bay off north dike- amazing! I cannot remember seeing such a large flock in any part of the bay any time of the year (there was over 40 last time I was here). In the old Coos Bay CBC days, we were lucky to find one and when we did it was usually up Catching Slough on the edge of the CBC circle, almost never in the bay. Some of the river mouths further south on the coast regularly have this species like the Rogue, Euchre Creek, Chetco River, Pistol River, etc. etc. but they are normally not in Coos Bay any time of year or if they are it is just a few during low water in the summer; in winter you normally have to go past the end of the bay upriver to find them. This many in the bay, and especially this time of year, is just really unusual.
