観察結果の詳細
A continuing immature male from yesterday was first seen briefly at 11:38 am and then for several minutes starting at 12:24 pm foraging on blue salvia by a white picket fence on the east side of the residence located at 9119 Bay Avenue in North Beach. As compared with a Ruby-throated Hummingbird, this bird appears to have a longer bill, shorter tail and more blunt or rounded wingtips, as well as a more grayish crown and auriculars, duller green upperparts and dingier grayish, not green, underparts. Behaviorally, this bird often spread its tail while foraging, while a RUHU usually holds its tail fairly still while hovering. Tentatively identified as a BCHU by hummingbird expert Bruce Peterjohn and others. Thanks to Jim Stasz for the find and hospitality.
