County bird! As I was about here (33.7967122, -117.7498481), at about exactly noon, I saw a raven chasing a long-tailed raptor that I happily expected would be a kite. Instead I looked directly up to see a dark-axillaried Prairie Falcon fly right over me. It distantly circled the hills to the north as I watched for the next five minutes before I had to head out, when it was still present. Overall, a fairly large, powerful, long-winged, long-tailed falcon with dark axillaries and dusty brown above. When I saw a PRFA was reported at Quail Hill this morning, last seen flying to the north, I expected this may be the same bird, but that individual seems to be continuing. It looks like we have two simultaneously right now! I have quite bad, digibinned photos, one of which I will attach.
