Photo, pretty heavily cropped and I'm not that well practiced on winter gulls recently, but I'm leaning Herring on this one. When trying to upload photos, Merlin is suggesting (er, telling me, unprompted) that this is GWGU. This bird readily stood out from the other large gulls nearby, both with darker primaries (relative to mantle) and with bill coloration. I'm not sure if or how Merlin would handle/suggest hybrids, but I'm personally sure that my observations of this bird are not consistent with (pure) GWGU.
