🔴 ***Rare. Hilarious surprise. 1 adult and 5 Imm seen well perched here, eventually flushing out ahead of me on trail, but back at this spot on return walk: 29.887340,-93.399822 Very small finches with thick, grayish black bill. Adult warm chestnut brown with black and white scaling on breast and belly. Immatures paler brown overall with varying degrees of patches of scaling. Heard well giving muted interaction peeps constantly as well. Seemed relatively content, if not trapped, at this shrubby oasis. I grabbed my camera at the end of my walk and returned to the original location, but they were not there. Could've been anywhere else farther down. Only second parish record in eBird, with another November record at Lacassine NWR.
