観察結果の詳細
An apparent family group of 1 adult and 3 variously aged/plumaged immature birds. The adult bird was feeding and preening the young birds. Large green psittacara, the adult showing significant red in the face from the crown, around the eye and beak area and a large amount of red in the wing. The younger birds showing various degrees of red on the face, ranging from very little restricted to the forehead to blotchiness around the face. These birds show various degrees of red in the wing bend/underwing, also visible to some degree when perched. The plumage in RMPA is highly variable with age, and they gain more red throughout each successive molt cycle. Birds of the World suggests that they won’t obtain their full red mask until well after 16 months. The extent of red on the face, wings, and legs increases with age, making these young birds a tricky ID. Any red observed in the wings should rule out Mitred Parakeet, but this feature isn’t always readily observable until the birds are well into their first year.
