Originally 1 rich brown bird seen in the field with 2 Western Meadowlarks, much darker than Western with whiter malar and much whiter in the tail. While we were watching the 3 birds, a 4th bird flew in, briefly landing in the top of a nearby spruce, showing the same rich brown crown stripes, darker overall and whiter in the tail.
