I am hung up on an initial (what would ultimately be “only”) good-but-fleeting look, where my initial impression was a larger size and crisp markings, darker head (and eye ring). Too clean (to me) for HUVI, plus, a more pronounced eye ring, but I suppose it’s possible. Too large (and vireo-billed) and deliberate for kinglet- comfortable that it was a vireo. Started here: 32.74883° N, 117.22955° W, flew to center of treatment ponds where I followed and took a lousy phone photo. It was dark and rainy, so I lightened them up. Olive wash on back and some yellow-green wash on sides does away with PLVI, I think. My initial gut was Cassin’s and nothing is really shaking me off of that.
