Country first. It appears to be the Lesser subspecies based on apparent smaller size, short bill, gray feathers wrapping up onto top of crown, and shorter legs. This is the most highly migratory subspecies group so probably the most likely to stray to Costa Rica.  Observation & change recommended by by Alex Lamoreaux
