A big flock flew in from behind me as I was sitting on the hedge facing the water body. They flew right over and around me and landed on the water without any sound. It was such a surprise! Immediately after landing they were moving around a little bit with their necks held high. I could see the eyebrows and a triangular face from the side and thin conical bill and brown with white spotted plummage. Soon after they got into a more crouchy roosting position. Unforgettable experience. I am guessing 30 but they could be more not less.
