Immature purple gallinule seen foraging on the side of Industrial Rd. on the north side of Fort Pond. Medium-sized bird with muted brown back, shiny green wings, iridescent purple on chest, white undertail coverts, and bright yellow legs. Its bill was pale red and yellow, not quite as bright as adults. Took me by surprise on my way to work, not at all concerned about cars passing by, just going about its business near the phragmites by the railroad crossing.
