This rare sighting reported from the Valley area a few days ago. Seen again by Mary Hausler at Kingfisher Pond in the morning but the Egret had left by 12:10PM when I arrived. Searched for it at Pioneer Marsh, Twin lakes and then Gastineau Channel at mouth of Salmon Creek (Worldwide Movers). No luck at first but did see it at Pioneer Marsh from Vanderbilt Road as I was driving back to Kingfisher Pond. The Egret was wading in the slough, which meanders through the tall grass at the center of the field. Hidden from view at times and tough to see. Large all white body, black legs, size about the same to Great Blue Heron, orange bill and yellow eye. Caught a small fish in one of the photos. Have seen Great Egrets many times before in locations, where they are fairly common (Arizona, Germany, Costa Rica, Mexico, France and Connecticut).
