Found by David at Whitney Creek then refound by Nick here. Medium-sized sandpiper with long legs and long slightly droopy bill and dull yellowish-green legs. Very tilted over when feeding. Pale buffy/stone tones on the head and neck and an attractive scaly pattern on the upperparts. Looks identical to Sibley’s Jul-Sep juvenile illustration in his book. Feeding initially with killdeer and solitary sandpiper but then with peeps …in the narrower area aside the downhill road to the shore. Really nice coloring. Fresh.
