Relatively larger, noticeably longer-winged calidrid first spotted by Susannah out on some distant rocks towards Second Island. Buffy plumage was immediately noticeable, to such an extent that I immediately considered 𝘊. 𝘴𝘶𝘣𝘳𝘶𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘴 as a possibility. The bird never got closer but scope views improved with warmer, softer lighting toward sunset. Execrable digiscoped photos uploaded. Apparent juvenile. Long bill for a "peep", "scaly", "scalloped" pattern on back and coverts, and long wings obviously projecting beyond the tail in several views. Warm, buffy face and upper breast, which contrasted sharply with unstreaked, pale undersides. Views of preening and stretching bird appeared to show a darker (not pale) rump. Separated from similar calidrids by structure and apparent size (cf. 𝘊. 𝘱𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘢) and by plumage cues (cf. 𝘊. 𝘧𝘶𝘴𝘤𝘪𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘴)
