I have finally figured out the secret of this burrowing owl. Don't come looking for him on weekdays. Today I drove up and there he was in the same spot where I've looked for him repeatedly the past several weeks, but on weekdays where I combined my search for this bird with work. Today being Sunday morning I just drove up and there he was in the same spot. Because only his head is sticking out of the ground that makes him look even smaller than he actually is.
