On the right bank of the Rio Içá, this would be P. r. jensoni, which is a new taxon for Brazil! In Brazil, however, jensoni would be considered a species. See the 2021 version of the CBRO checklist here: https://www.cbro.org.br/listas/ Notably fast-paced song: 7 short notes with a quick two note stutter to start. Interestingly, this bird was not identified by Merlin, presumably because it doesn’t adhere to the “standard” song from the Guianas and elsewhere. That said, the first song on Merlin (from Venezuela), was a fairly reasonable approximation. I first encountered this bird at the intersection of Trail 1 and Trail 4 (-2.99385, -69.40459), although the pair that I later recorded was between T1-2650 and 2700. There I could confirm the sexes, and the female was actually leading the charge, closer to the counter-singing individual. I didn’t get a great look at her, but she seems much paler than what I’m used to around Manaus (and more contrasty between upper- and underparts), with grayer upperparts, and paler orangey underparts. Another bird singing at T1-3300 + a pair (photographed after using playback) and another singing/calling bird at T1-3900.
