A Laughing Gull-sized all-dark shearwater was slowly swimming southward just past the breaking waves about 50 yards offshore. The bird showed all dark plumage with long primaries extending well beyond the tail tip. Its fairly long black bill had a noticeable bulge (tube) along the basal 1/3 of the upper mandible and a shrike-like hook at the tip. The bird showed limited pale wing feathers on some views. Four digiscope photos will be included with this report.
