観察結果の詳細

Notes while observing: Silvery bill. Grey ish brown above, white below. Head also. Much larger than the coots. White necklace that doesn’t go all the way around. Dark eyes. Light eyebrows. Brown on head is darker than brown on body. No chinstrap. Closest match in the Sibley is a 1st summer Common Loon. A little bit checkered on the sides, right up against the water. Notes after observing: I sat with the bird for a while because it was holding nice and still. It kept putting its head in the water but otherwise it just kinda drifted around one spot. I got some pictures I’ll add. I recognized it as the loon I’ve seen in other pictures from here this year, but I was surprised to see it because it hadn’t been reported in so long. Seen at the east edge of the north arm of the lake
