Megapodius nicobariensis abbotti. Two individuals of the Nicobar megapode were sighted in a clearing surrounded by mangroves, Pandanus and scattered trees of Casurina about 10 to 15 m from the shoreline. It was a shame to see the habitat of this famed 'bigfoot' littered with plates, discarded plastic packets and other garbage left behind by picknickers and workers. In Galathea, Great Nicobar
