*local; at least this number of males encountered along the forest road solidly on the Virginia side of the ridge. With high elevation leaf out still a ways off, relatively easy to see and track through the understory as they foraged along the ground and in blackberry thickets. Not singing much but frequently giving harsh pwich calls. Photos and audio
