Diving duck with dark crown, moderate sized bill, strong white cheek patch. Video shows white tip to bill, attached still. Initially thought pied billed bc eye appeared dark and bc of reddish tone to back of neck, but perhaps that explained by bird coming into alternate plumage. Bill too short and dark, size too small to be a red necked grebe. There were maybe two! I had photographed/videoed the first above w iPhone right near goldeneye, on Hudson equivalent with 152nd st also diving very near shore. I then jogged south and had a ?second bird equal with 146th st, which quickly dove and didn’t reappear. But it could’ve been the first bird - not surprised it can swim faster than I can jog. Looked around some more with no repeat views of grebes then I started to freeze in my running gear so got out of there.
