I got out of the truck to assess the road, and heard a thin song that sounded like possibly BAWW. Because BBWA also has a similar-ish squeaky wheel song, just for shits and giggles I played that song, as the one I was hearing was shorter and more slurred than BAWW. Out from the trees bursted this beautiful male BBWA. He landed right above my head, and then continued to pose in various spots in the forest edge along the road. His song in response turned to more of a trill. Very responsive to playback and easily the most cooperative songbird I have ever photographed. Was even able to take a video as well. F-ing awesome. ✊🏻
