Didn't know this species existed before it flagged on audio! Definitely something to be said for the utility of Merlin here, and a surreal moment for us both. In field, noted thick bill (naturally), dark masked face, brightly contrasting white throat, and pale yellow wash to belly and vent. Singing, seen hawking out well over the river - at times in the US, at times in Mexico. This record has since been accepted by the TBRC as the only record of this review-list species in Texas for the year, and the 23rd such record for the state (TBRC 2024-86).
