My first observation of this species was in 2006 at this very location. It was pointed out to me by a researcher, who referred to the overall cinnamon colour and especially the cinnamon underlings as it flew. This individual did not fly but I immediately knew it was the same species as I had seen almost 20 years before. It was large with an upturned bill and overall cinnamon colour. The bill was pale towards the base. It was a little bigger than a Black-necked Stilt which was beside it.
