Confirmed by seeing the bird and hearing diagnostic "pip" vocalizations - Traill's type Empid with thin, crisp eye ring, rounded head, moderate primary projections, and strongly contrasting wingbars on dark wings. Appropriate migratory habitat. Bird was foraging down low in scrubby habitat bordering water/cattail marsh. The low frequency "pip" calls in the recording rule out Least and Willow Flycatcher. Call is distinctly different on spectrogram from similar Eastern Wood-Pewee "pwik" call which is commonly confused with Alder. The pip calls match Macaulay Library examples, matches other audio we have recorded in the past and when inputted into BirdNet, Alder Flycatcher is detected. We have seen/heard this species multiple times in this type of habitat in past migration seasons. See attached audio and photos.
